How it came to be

StationV was born in 2005. I had just ended my career as Music and Arts Coordinator for the St. James-Assiniboia School Division and was eager to keep using my skills in marketing, technology and design. A few years before this departure, I had created a website for a family reunion. That experience was more rewarding than I could have imagined. Who knew it would lead to a new career.

Web design requires a wide variety of skills and I happened to be passionate about the most important ones - design, technology and marketing. Learning about search engine optimization, style sheets and coding came easy to me. I became obsessed with reading and watching YouTube videos about all aspects of web design. After only a short time, I was on my way to creating a relationship with over fifty clients.

As web design continues to evolve, my learning and enthusiasm continues to grow.

Vic Hooper


I started my musical career as a self taught piano/organ player performing in community dance bands in the area surrounding Waskada, Manitoba. After just a couple years of studying piano and voice in my late teens, I began my formal music education at Brandon University and obtained a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I also hold a certificate in Commercial Art from Assiniboine Community College and a pre-masters certificate in Education (drama) from the University of Manitoba. My professional career began teaching general and choral music and art in The St. James-Assiniboia School Division in Winnipeg, MB and over the years spanned grades 1 through 12.

June of 2005 marked the end of my 29 year career with The St. James-Assiniboia School Division - 13 years as a teacher, 14 years as Music Coordinator along with teaching choral music and art at Silver Heights Collegiate and directing the award winning St. James-Assiniboia Divisional Senior Chamber Choir, and 2 years as Coordinator of the Arts.

I have performed as a singer with Up With People, Rainbow Stage, the Bunch of Grapes, Sundog Productions, Brandon University Choral and the Brandon Philharmonic Choir. In addition to the many school choirs, musicals, and productions, I have directed the following community choirs:  Assiniboine Chapter of Sweet Adelines, First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg's Choir, Provincial Honour Choirs' Junior, Women's and High School Choirs, and the Rainbow Harmony Project choir. 

In "retirement" I continue to work as a choral clinician and volunteer on boards and committees of choral, gay, and neighbourhood organizations. In addition, I created a web site design company called that is very rewarding and has become my major focus.

I live in downtown Winnipeg in a modernized Victorian home with my partner, Pieter Jongbloed.

I feel privileged to have had the opportunity throughout my career to encourage children and adults to develop their vocal skills in order to enjoy, with confidence, the art of making music through singing.

Marketing Background

An ongoing study

In October 2007, I attended a two and a half day conference on marketing presented by Jill Sauter, developer of Marketing Accelerator Program (MAP). This intensive course opened a whole new understanding of what marketing is all about. The hours flew by as my mind converted this business model to fit with the business of running and promoting choirs & arts and non-profit groups. The course may have ended but my journey down this path had just begun.
