puzzle1StationV

StationV highlights the current professional activities and passions of Vic Hooper - and that would be me.

Website design has become the centre of my professional universe. As a “jack of all trades”, it fits my personality to a tee… visual design, technology, writing, marketing and watching for trends in communication and website development. I love it. StationV will give you a well designed and standard compliant website that is attractive, functional, easy to read, has content that is search engine friendly and is customized for your needs and taste.

In developing web design skills, I quickly saw the value of understanding the principles of marketing. StationV Marketing pages will help you capture the essence of and skills to market yourself, your organization or business.

As former teacher and music coordinator in the public school system, my career focused almost entirely around choirs. I remain heavily involved with the Rainbow Harmony Project chorus and with the Manitoba Choral Association. The Choir Care pages are for of you that are also interested in making beautiful choral music.

Under-riding the above is a fixation with computers and the technology that runs them. The ultimate goal is to make life for me (and you) easier to manage. You will find some of my favourite applications and websites in the Technology section. By the way, StationV worships Apple.

All work and no play makes you and StationV very tired. Check out the Fun page for a little diversion and mind stimulation.

Vic Hooper (Bio)

vicbeerGetting that music degree called for lots of liquids.

I started my musical career as a self taught piano/organ player performing in community dance bands in the area surrounding Waskada, Manitoba. After just a couple years of studying piano and voice in my late teens, I began my formal music education at Brandon University and obtained a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I also hold a certificate in Commercial Art from Assiniboine Community College and a pre masters certificate in Education (drama) from the University of Manitoba. My professional career began teaching general and choral music and art in The St. James-Assiniboia School Division in Winnipeg, MB spanning grades 1 to 12.

June of 2005 marked the end of my 29 year career with The St. James-Assiniboia School Division - 13 years Teaching, 14 years as Music Coordinator along with teaching choral music and art at Silver Heights Collegiate and directing the award winning St. James-Assiniboia Divisional Senior Chamber Choir, and 2 years as Coordinator of the Arts.

In "retirement" I continues to work with choirs as director (Rainbow Harmony Project), as a clinician and on the board of the Manitoba Choral Association. With time and opportunity to expand my horizons, I am further developing my passion for website design, marketing and anything I can do on my iMac.

I live in a downtown modernized Victorian home with partner, Pieter Jongbloed.

"I feel privileged to have had the opportunity throughout my career to encourage children and adults to develop their vocal skills in order to enjoy, with confidence, the art of making music through singing." -Vic
